Drop Shot Delight
This drill practices the drop shot, which is a very effective shot on a clay court. The pros make frequent use of the drop shot during clay court tournaments, utilizing how the clay grabs a ball hit with backspin. This drill also gives players practice at sliding into the shot as they run down the drop shot and attempt to keep the point alive. Player level: Intermediate - Advanced This drill can be played on half the court width or the whole court. 2 players, A and B, both begin on the baseline. Player A feeds a mid court ball to player B and immediately after feeding the ball, has to turn around and run back and touch the ball cart which is placed 5-20 feet behind player A. After player A touches the ball cart, he will turn around and try to run down the drop shot that player B has attempted. If player A reaches the shot, the point is played out.
